My name is Harumo Sato. I am an independent children books/ Editorial illustrator in Mountain View CA. I originally am from Japan, but moved to the United States in 2013. I graduated from the University at Buffalo in May, 2015. I now live in Mountain View CA.
My parents are historians. So when I was growing up I had always been surrounded by a big mess of historical books, folklore tales, and a wide range of ancient art works. Since my house was beside a temple and it was my favorite playground, I also have a big affection toward Japanese culture.
Currently I spend my days creating my visual world to share with you.
I love Matisse, David Hockney, and Hokusai Katsusika and they are always my inspiration source. Therefore, I am very careful to choose color, and line quality to enhance whimsical, playful illustration atmosphere. Also, humor is my essential.
I enjoy character development and creating a personality through visual transition.
I'm always looking for interesting new projects. If you have any idea, please contact me, I would be very happy to discuss your ideas.
